Notes |
|
The printer's copy for the
first edition, notated in F major, presumably copied by Weidig
from
AVc.
That autograph contains no information about the literary
sources for the first three songs of what became volume 1 of the
Lieder und Gesänge and on fol. 1r of ACV1.3 the subtitle (Volkslied) and name of the
composer G. Mahler are non-autograph pencil additions.
However, for whatever reason (and unlike all the other songs of
the collection), in the printed copies the source attribution
appears only on the title page and front wrapper, but not as
part of the heading to the song itself.
Some further alterations and annotations (e.g. casting-off) to
the music text are by the house editor, others may be by Mahler.
There is one apparent copying error by Weidig which remained
uncorrected and was published in the high and low voice versions
(E
major):
b. 57, pf, rh: AVc =
a';
ACV1.3 = c''
