Outline stemma

This diagram seeks to summarize the stemmatic relationships between the main surviving and lost piano-vocal scores (the sigla of lost material are enclosed in square brackets).

For details of the conventions used, refer to the Conventions and Abbreviations page, but note that in the present stemma vertical alignment of sources does not indicate that two sources are different states of the same document. Green is used to distinguish the currently accessible sources.

Two suffices are employed to identify, where necessary, the transposition used in the source:

h = hoch (high)

t = tief (low).
