The various issues of Mahler's piano roll of 'Ich ging mit Lust durch
einen grünen Wald' arranged for solo piano (listed in
Fölöp) have divergent
durations because the playing mechanism needs to be accurately
calibrated to ensure the reproduction of the roll is played back at the
correct speed; details of two are recorded here. It is striking that the
two recordings of of 'Ich ging mit Lust' are broadly similar in duration
and rather swifter than many more recent versions. A complete recording
