[15–16] were removed during binding). The UE edition number '3748B' has been added in pencil at the top of the front wrapper of this British Library copy. The price of the score on the front wrapper has been over-stamped with 42.00, presumably in the period 1920–23.

According to the data collated by Reinhold Kubik (RKGMK, 172), there were three printings of the song in the period 1905–1915, a total of 1100 copies: these must have all been of the medium voice version as the high- and low-voice versions of the piano-vocal score were not prepared until late 1916. The two later printings may have been for the two UE orders dating from 1910 and 1912 (in fulfilment of which a total 401 were delivered).

In the absence of a Hofmeister entry the plate number (noted in Puttmann's score) suggests that it was part of a batch of newly originated material for the Mahler songs published in 1917, although this score may only have been autografiert (i.e. lithographed from writing), rather than engraved.
