Notes

Puttmann is identified as the arranger in a pencil note on fol. 1r, and pencil instruction specifies Pariser Format.¹ The vocal line is untexted, but Puttmann indicates Texte nach Ausgabe a u. b. The plate number (7634) has been added in pencil at the foot of the page, and 75489 is noted in the r.h. margin on fol. 1r: it is probably a reference number connected with the engraving or printing of this transposition. It might be noted that Puttmann's manuscript of the low-voice transposition of the piano-vocal score (CV4t) of „Ich atmet' einen linden Duft‟ (plate number 7633) bears the number 75488: both arrangements were presumably prepared in late 1916.

At some point in its history the manuscript has been folded in half along a vertical axis.
